Yesterday was a day spent giving thanks by many around our nation.  We gathered around tables, booths, or bars, and spent time with others consuming near fatal amounts of turkey, and trimmings.  Yesterday was a day set aside by our forefathers as a time to look back and remember all that God has done for us.

The other night I was sitting at our church’s thanksgiving eve service by myself all alone in the back row, feeling bad for myself.  I was listening to person after person share how God had healed them and helped them in the last year, and I was having a hard time just thinking about how God chose to take my Dad home and not heal him.  I’ll be honest, it was hard.  Really hard.

But in the midst of it all, I started to tune out those who were speaking and I began a list in my journal of the things I’m thankful for.  Here’s what I am thankful for in 2008…

  1. My wife
  2. My wife
  3. My wife
  4. My Kids
  5. My Family
  6. God providing for all of our needs
  7. For God clearly moving us when we need to be moved, and settling us when we need to settle
  8. For my friends
  9. For God chasing me
  10. For the trials
  11. For my Dad’s Legacy
  12. For my Mom
  13. For my WIFE
  14. For God teaching me and changing me
  15. For Tears
  16. For a great group of people that I get to serve alongside of
  17. For my life

There is so much to be thankful for.  It is really easy to be negative though isn’t it?  Just to look at the downside… But I’m grateful for so much!  What about you?  What are you thankful for?

So we are off and running. For those of you who were wondering, yes, we did have a great garage dale yesterday. Great as in we sold off all our stuff that has accumulated over the course of the last four years of marriage.
Today however we have taken off and we are going camping at a place called lake in wood. We just got done going to Dutch wonderland with Noah and grace. We had a blast. We played in the water the whole time and rode the train once before leaving. Now we are headed to go set up camp. We have borrowed a pop up and I am looking forward to the experience of camping with an 18 month old and a 2 1/2 year old. Sounds like there will be some interesting stories. Anyhow. Off we go equipped with a pack and play and a borrowed pop up. I’m pumped.
I am really looking forward to spending some time with the family and my wife. I’ll post pictures later of our campsite.

Are you a camping type of person or a hotel type of person?

I am exhausted.  I have hit the wall.  Right now, I feel like I have been all over the place.  I just got back from Camp Conrad with our Junior High.  It was a good week.  It was awesome to get to know some of the kids better.

However, I have missed spending time with my family.  If feel like grace is now a young woman!  She is saying some of the funniest stuff.  Noah is playing so well by himself.  Check this out… This is what I’m talking about.  So, tomorrow we are taking off, headed to the beach.  I love the beach.  The beach is one of my favorite places!  We are going to just spend some time as a family.  It is going to be tons of fun.  I can’t wait.  So, I’m going to go to bed now because like I said, I’m exhausted.

P.S. Where do you go when you need to refresh yourself?

Oh and yeah, check this out, this is hysterical!

All I have to say is PACKING DAY!  Boy oh boy… I am really tired of packing.  Today was a great day. We went surfing this morning, spear fishing after that, and then up to the beach.  Surfing was okay.  The waves built overnight, and we had a fun little session out there.  Spear fishing was weak to say the least.  There was a major rip, and it was generous enough to give me my life back!  🙂  I was getting sucked out to sea.  Ah well, it made for an even more interesting spear fishing session.  The beach was perfect, and the weather was phenomenal.  We had an awesome week of weather overall, and a great time together with our family.  Noah and Grace love the ocean.  It has truly been a great vacation!  We drive home tomorrow morning early!

The van is officially packed, minus some pillows.  Here’s the official shot of the van…

5 bungees, 2 winch straps, a bike rack, and roof racks, and away we go...

PA here we come.  See you soon Doylestown.  Its been real Hatteras.

Surf Report: Building… Could be good tomorrow!

Water Temp: Stunning, maybe a titch colder than yesterday, but still great

Air Temp: 88

Weather: Is it possible to have another beautiful day in a row?  Hmm?  Well, the answer is, YES!  Gorgeous…

Fishing Report: Not quite as good as yesterday.  Spanish Mackerel are in the water, not on the line though!  Tried shark fishing tonight, lost our bait continually, however no Shark on the hook…

Today is day 6.  It is the worst day of vacation possible in my mind.  You are constantly thinking that tomorrow will be the last day of vacation, and then you are trying to cram all of the things that you wanted to do all week into this one day.  Total bummer.  It even is worse than the actual last day because the suspense of the day coming is torture!  Even though it was day six, it was a pretty great day 6.  Noah and Grace were having a great time on the beach, and the water was really fun today.  We had a Luau themed dinner tonight.  Hawaiian Chicken and Pineapple ca-bobs, as well as veggie ca-bobs.  It was awesome.

Here is the daily pictorial update:

Tonight we returned to the same spot on the beach to take family pictures with the whole family!  All of us trying to smile at the same time!  How great is that?  Let me tell you what… It was a task and a half.  But it went well.

Here is the video… Wait for it to load.

Tomorrow morning is going to be fun.  Spear fishing here we come!

Surf Report: Smaller hills than the day before,

Water Temp: Beautiful yet again

Air Temp: 84 degrees

Weather: Bright, with hazy skies…

Fishing Report: Still no fish caught.  There are two big rays that keep swimming under the kayak.  They are very playful, and freaky all at the same time.  Pretty cool though.  I wouldn’t mind hooking into one…

So far today we have dug a big hole played in it, and then jumped over big waves!  The key phrase of the morning was, look daddy, another huge wave.  He’s too funny.  Now Grace, on the other hand, has it made.  She is under her umbrella just hanging out in the pool.  She has zero desire to get out of that pool.  It is so funny.  It’s like we put her on a three foot leash or something.  She stays absolutely put in that pool and loves life!  The best $4.95 spent all vacation so far.  So after a hard morning of playing this is what we got around 12:45…

Nap Time

They both played so hard.  I love when they sleep well!  I guess I will do some reading now.  I’m reading a book called “Refresh, Renew, Revive” by H.B. London Jr.  One of my favorite guys.  So, I guess I’m gonna go try and “relax, rest, & read”.

I will continue later…

So, here is the daily pictorial update…

Also tonight Noah and I flew the kite again!  He was really excited about it.  Here’s a quick video of Noah describing as any 2 year old would describe a kite flying…
